    • The Madrid metro runs daily from 6:00 AM to 01:30 AM. Train frequency varies depending on the time of day, with services running approximately every 2–15 minutes: more frequent during peak hours and less frequent late at night.

    The Madrid Metro (operated by Metro de Madrid) has 13 main lines, covering the city center, residential districts, and surrounding metropolitan areas.

    The metro is the most efficient way to travel across Madrid, connecting the historic center, major attractions, residential neighborhoods, and surrounding areas. Buses and commuter trains (Cercanías) complement the network, especially for destinations outside the central city.

    Key Tourist Stops

    • Sol Station: Located in the heart of Madrid, this is one of the most convenient stops for exploring Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía, and the historic city center.

    • Atocha station: and a key stop for visitors, providing access to the Art Triangle, including the Prado Museum, Reina Sofía Museum, and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

    • Banco de España Station: Ideal for visiting Cibeles Palace, Paseo del Prado, and the main cultural attractions along Madrid’s museum district.

    • Nuevos Ministerios Station: A major interchange with access to Line 8 toward Madrid-Barajas Airport and connections to the city’s business district.

    City Buses

    • Day buses (EMT Madrid): Operate throughout the city from approximately 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM–midnight, depending on the route. They provide extensive coverage of central areas, residential neighborhoods, and outer districts.

    • Night buses: Operate during the night, generally from around 11:30 PM to 6:00 AM. The main night bus network connects the city center with many neighborhoods and is especially useful after metro closing hours.
